Job Overview

We are looking for a customer-obsessed Sr. Design Operations Specialist to partner closely with the TurboTax Design team, a group of passionate designers who are chartered with ideating world-class customer experiences to create financial freedom for all consumers. You can bring all the critical pieces together – strategy, business goals, design, execution, technology, and customer needs – to produce amazing experiences for multiple platforms.

You’ll be sitting on a design team of ~10-15 multidisciplinary designers and partnering with a Design Leader to lead the design team from strategy through execution. You’ll be partnering closely with technical program managers to align the delivery of high-quality work to the most critical product areas, while drive prioritization decisions with cross-functional partners across product management and product development.

You will have the opportunity to coach, mentor, and grow our designers as you plan their priorities, build an inclusive culture, and create the space for designers to do their best work. You will join a Design Operations team dedicated to creating a thriving and creative community for Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ designers.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the craft design leadership team and lead by example as a strategic and critical success partner.
  • Provide creative oxygen by empowering the design team to maximize its productivity; manage its design requirements/initiatives and operational needs. You identify and solve team needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc.
  • Lead the Experience Design (XD) team in process and prioritization to align the delivery of high-quality design work to the company’s business objectives.
  • Build strong relationships and act as a bridge between the XD team and our cross-functional partners (ex. Product Management, Engineering and Marketing), connecting all groups and making sure inter-dependencies are understood and planned for effectively. You are also a critical point of contact for key business partners, other leaders and outside agencies. 
  • Partner with XD leads to define key product life cycle decisions as part of the design thinking process, including requirements gathering, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of teams and approval processes. You help define and establish timelines and tasks to manage large and small projects through all phases of implementation.
  • Drive engagement and morale of the team through team culture, design inspiration and passion for our customers.
  • Join the Design Operations team within the Consumer Group business unit. Success for this team will be demonstrated with a strong team dynamic, connecting the dots across product areas.
  • Lead or contribute to higher-level design ops initiatives to help create a stronger more unified XD org across all the Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ Design Community.

Qualifications

  • A stellar attitude, zest for design and a passion to help bring great customer experience to market!
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Min 5-7+ years of production/project management/program management experience within Design.
  • Deep experience working with creative/design teams, understanding how to integrate processes with creative minds and demonstrate influence with cross-functional partners.
  • Proven track record of delivery and execution of medium to large scale programs.
  • Strong experience with Agile development and methodologies and related software and tools to keep organized.
  • Thorough understanding of the creative development processes and product development life cycle.
  • Brings order to complex programs and can scope and prioritize projects, identify risks and dependencies, define schedules, and work independently.
  • Confidently manages ambiguity with a track record of creative problem solving that demonstrates flexibility.
  • A driving passion for creating products that resonates on an emotional level with customers.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of current design and project management tools (Figma, Jira, Google Suite, SmartSheets).

Ó£»¨¶¯Âþ provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is Southern California $167,000-190,000. This position will be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at .
